If you’re experiencing issues with your home’s ductless air conditioner in Vero Beach, FL, Family Heating and Air, Inc is the HVAC company to call. Our technicians specialize in ductless AC systems and fix a full range of AC problems according to manufacturer guidelines. We strongly encourage homeowners to contact us at the first sign something is wrong. Avoid the mistake of waiting and having the problem get worse. Most AC issues won’t go away on their own and will only become more expensive to fix with time.
Family Heating and Air is an A+ company from start to finish! If I could give them 10 stars, I would. I highly recommend them to everyone. My neighbor also had them replace the entire unit inside and out while they were out of town and so very happy with the unit and install upon return . Thank you Bruce, Chris and team!
One of the most common ductless air conditioner problems is a clogged filter. It can create a wide range of problems, including weak airflow or the system not turning on. Our technician can check your filter and either clean it or replace it as needed. You’ll typically need to replace your filter each year.
Another common issue is condensation. A ductless AC creates condensation as the air moves over the evaporator coil. When the system is working well, the moisture drips into a pan and out of the home through a drain line. That line can clog over time. That leads to a leaky system. In mini-split systems that have a condensate drain pump, a leak may also mean that the pump has failed.
If you’re dealing with inconsistent temperatures and haven’t scheduled maintenance in a while, the evaporator coil may be dirty. If the coil isn’t the issue, you may have a failing or failed thermostat. Systems that have automatic airflow direction adjustment have another sensor that can go bad as well. This is the likely culprit if the air no longer moves.
One of the more serious AC problems is a refrigerant leak. If the leak is significant, you’ll likely notice pooling refrigerant. This can happen with the indoor unit or outdoor unit. That said, most leaks are minor or what technicians call a micro-leak. Micro-leaks can be much more difficult to detect, particularly if occurring outdoors. The first sign will usually be air that doesn’t feel as cool as usual. It can also be a spike in your electric bill.
Most homeowners with ductless AC systems control it with a remote. If yours stops working, first swap out the batteries. You can also check if you can still control the unit through your smartphone if applicable. If that doesn’t work, our technician can come out and troubleshoot it. We’ll factory reset the remote. If that’s not the issue, we’ll hook up diagnostic equipment. It may be that the indoor unit’s receiver has failed. In that case, our technician can install a new one so that the remote works again.
Watch for these other signs you need ductless AC service:
Unpleasant odors
Excess condensation
Rising electricity costs
Unusual or loud noises
